Right-Winger Right On Social Security

There are plenty of reasons not to vote for Tea Party animal Marc Rubio for U.S. Senator. But his stand on Social Security is not among them. Now 65 itself, Social Security is paying out more in benefits than it takes in via payroll taxes. In about a generation, the trust fund will be empty. Something, other than the usual “third rail” politics of avoidance, obviously needs to be done. Putting retirement age and benefits on the discussion table for FUTURE beneficiaries makes sense.
