We’re all more than familiar with the contemporary campaign dynamic that all politics, with no apologies to Tip O’Neill, are no longer local. For example, we know by now that Florida GOP Attorney General candidate Pam Bondi will “stand up to Washington.” Presumably, that implies, Dan Gelber will acquiesce to it.
Wouldn’t want that.
But if a candidate is really looking to score partisan political points–as well as say something pertinent–here’s a suggestion. Why not say you’re going to “stand up to the self-promoting, pandering, party-first obstructionists and help make Washington work for all of us.”
