No, there will not be a President Donald Trump. Of course not. We haven’t come to that.
But that we’ve come to the point in American history that an uber-wealthy, pompous, political streaker is topping early polls, says something sad about this country.
But, no, there won’t be a Trump presidency. No more than there will be a Trump Tower Tampa.
Likely those early poll numbers are a Potemkin Village of not-quite-trump cards.
Surely, the primary electorate couldn’t be that seriously skewed by those living vicariously through a wise-guy, billionaire candidate. Surely, a sizable chunk won’t keep channeling their frustrations and anger through some arrogant avatar of celebrity. Surely, the in-your-face mantra of reclaimed, American “greatness” will be seen for its glib transparency. Surely.
No, there will not be a Trump Administration. Hopefully.
