The ripple effects of the Copa Airline-TIA connection continue apace. It’s more than direct flights from Tampa to Panama City, a global trading hub that is a quick pivot to major South American markets.
Copa has already teamed up with Port Tampa Bay for a business forum on export opportunities, notably high-tech products, to Central and South America, and there was also a regional trade mission to Panama. Now there’s been a cooperative agreement formally signed between the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Panama.
It’s hardly happenstance that the Panama Canal expansion–in effect, a doubling of its capacity–is nearing completion.
