Most of us agree that a move by the Museum of Science and Industry to downtown Tampa is intriguing. Many of us are less in agreement when we start to look at the details. One key subplot is how the space–80 county acres–of MOSI’s current site would be used if it relocates. A corporate headquarters coup? A Tampa Innovation Alliance centerpiece? A USF football stadium?
Scenarios involving USF synergy are enticing.
But, candidly, there are better uses for the land and necessary capital than a football stadium. It shouldn’t be a priority in this context. Raymond James is a great facility. It draws well when the home teams are not embarrassingly bad.
