Aquarium Scenario

How ironic.

If Scientologists had their way, the city of Clearwater–residents and leaders–and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium would never have planned the relocation of the undersized aquarium to the downtown bluff that currently houses City Hall. Then there would be no need for Pinellas County commissioners to consider using bed tax money to support the relocation. The Church of Scientology seems to feel there are better uses for that prime real estate. We can only imagine.

But this much appears obvious. Part of the allure of a downtown aquarium–it drew 600,000 visitors last year on Island Estates–is to give Clearwater an identity for something other than Scientology.
