Fortunately, no one died.But that was downright scary stuff that happened over the Memorial Day holiday at Clearwater Beach. Apparently a fight between two groups erupted in gunfire. A SWAT team was called in and the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa went into lock down. Memorial Causeway was shut down.
Crime at Clearwater Beach, an acclaimed hot spot for spring breakers and families, is usually limited to DUIs and purse snatchings–not gangbanger mayhem. Two words: Tourism nightmare.
