Maybe the concept of “Student Day” at the Florida State Fair can still work. Frankly, I wouldn’t be in favor of even trying.
Does anyone really believe that students–coming off of winter break, semester break and MLK day need time off for a fair freebie? Does anyone really believe that doing away with “Student Day” would necessarily mean doing away with opportunities for serious agriculture students and those legitimately motivated to win livestock contests?
Surely, it’s not a zero-sum matter. Surely, the truly conscientious can be rewarded without enabling the “wilding” element or engaging in a costly, lockdown ambiance. Surely.
