It was good news/bad news for the Plant High football program last weekend.
The good news: Two PHS grads, quarterbacks Aaron Murray and Robert Marve, had big days. Murray threw for two touchdowns in leading Georgia to a 42-10 rout of Georgia Tech. Georgia remains in the hunt for the national championship, and Murray, a record-setting junior, could make the Heisman Trophy short list. Marve, a Purdue senior, threw for four TDs in a 56-35 win over Indiana.
The bad news: Plant was beaten soundly, 24-7, by Orlando Dr. Philips in the regional 8A semifinal. It was Plant’s earliest playoff exit in seven years.
