* Europe came back and won the Ryder Cup in dramatic fashion. Good for them. Actually, the Europeans have been winning a lot of these biannual competitions in recent years. But maybe they should. Not only did they invent the game of golf, but how weird is it to have a competition pitting a country against a continent?
* How’s this for a disturbing number? According to the Mayo Clinic, 50 percent of athletes playing collision sports have concussion symptoms. Here’s another: only 10 percent report them.
* The announced attendance at last Saturdays USF-FSU game at Raymond James Stadium was 69,383, an all-time high for USF and the biggest non-Super Bowl attendance number ever at RayJay. Actual attendance, however, was 58,808, according to the Tampa Sports Authority. Now tickets sold and turnstile numbers will always be different. But 10,000 no-shows for a game like this?
