Electoral Puzzle

Either it’s another suspect poll or another indictment of uninformed American voters.

According to an Associated Press-GfK poll, more than a quarter of the electorate remains uncommitted in the presidential race. That would mean that barely four months out, more than one in four voters can’t discern enough candidate contrasts to make a meaningful difference.

This doesn’t happen if you’re paying attention. Hell, this doesn’t happen, arguably, if you’re conscious. The distinction couldn’t be more stark if one really were a Muslim socialist alien and the other a vulture-capitalist cult member salivating at the prospect of exporting jobs. But 27 percent of the electorate find it too tough a call. Sobering.
