The unique perspective and provocative opinions of Joe O’Neill
Dem Notes
Next
week’s Democratic “debate” in Houston will look a bit different than the
two previous ones. This time only 10 candidates made the qualifying cut.
That means the Dem gathering will be reduced from two nights to one. That’s
too bad–if the overriding priority is to actually have something approximating
a “debate.” A two-night, five-candidate forum–regardless of
media-marketed “match-ups”—is preferable to what likely will be another
calculated, performance-art mess.
“It’s
important to know when it’s not your time.” That was New York Sen. KirstenGillibrand, in announcing that she was dropping out of the Democratic
presidential race.
