Jeb Bush and Dr. Ben Carson: two quick takeaways.
Jeb: For all his Right To Rise millions and “staying power,” Bush is preordained, if nominated, to be at a critical disadvantage against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He wouldn’t be able to contrast himself to a candidate of entitlement and another generation.
Now, in order to placate anti-immigrant ire in his own party, the bi-lingual candidate with the Mexican wife and bi-cultural kids has found it inexplicably expedient to criticize American multiculturalism. “We should not have a multicultural society,” he said in a recent stump speech, meaning foreigners too often find it difficult to assimilate into American society. No, he didn’t make this speech in Miami. He made it in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Ben: If only this were brain surgery.
