Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton could conceivably have to confront a GOP ticket that plays up her generational differences and plays up its own inclusion of a charismatic Hispanic candidate. If so, there’s one intriguing scenario in response: a Hillary Clinton-Julian Castro ticket.
Hardly happenstance, it would seem, that two days removed from the Democratic presidential debate Clinton appears at a Mexican-themed campaign rally in San Antonio, Texas, with HUD Secretary Castro. Recall that the former San Antonio mayor, 41, gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in 2012. And, yes, he formally endorsed Clinton at that Hispanic-voter rally in San Antonio.
When asked about Castro as vice presidential material, Clinton didn’t exactly pivot to denial mode. “I am going to really look hard at him for anything,” said Clinton, “because that’s how good he is.”
