Hillary, The Sequel

Hillary Clinton’s long-anticipated rollout of her presidential candidacy has been labeled a “reintroduction.” Recall the first time didn’t go as planned–and there is this entitlement-Benghazi-email thing still out there.

Her official presidential announcement was via social media–not some ballyhooed, star-centered event. She’ll be listening to the middle class and more than acknowledging that she’s a grandmother. And it was more than political rhetoric when she said in the video that she was “hitting the road to earn your vote.”

And the first major destination she hit was Iowa. It was at the end of an east-to-midwest road trip sans Super PAC trappings. She toured a community college, visited a produce distributor, met up with activists and local politicians, stretched her legs at gas stations and ate at a Chipotle.

Good choice, Iowa–being up close and personal in the state with that lid-lifter caucus in less than 10 months. The state of momentum front-loading. The state where she finished third in 2008–and didn’t return for seven years.

So, reintroductions were definitely in order.
