Palm trees: They’re not for everybody.
That was the reminder message from Dale Gordon, the executive director of the Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission after recently hosting a familiarization tour (“fam tour”) for location and production directors scouting out sites to shoot television commercials. They’re always looking for those “Anytown, USA” sites, says Gordon.
Accordingly, she typically directs them to South Tampa, where the architecture is welcoming and oak trees abound. Location scouts, understates Gordon, do not love palm trees the way we do.
