The new owner of what was the notorious Scene Premium Nightclub in St. Petersburg recently made her case that the reincarnated Scene–now known as Onyx–will no longer warrant being on the Nuisance Abatement Board’s hit list. That’s because Onyx will hire licensed and bonded security personnel, allow police inspection any time and assure that all patrons are subjected to metal detectors. “We’re going to run the business like any other business,” said Onyx operator Tamika Coley.
The question that is begged–in addition to the loose use of “like any other business”: If you need a metal detector for your patrons, what the hell kind of business are you in?
