No, you can’t make this stuff up.
St. Petersburg City Council has passed a resolution inviting developer Cityscape LLC–the one that has a Rays’ stadium plan for the Carillon area–to come by and share that plan. And Rays’ reps are invited too. Sounds like progress.
Only one caveat. City Attorney John “Tortious Interference” Wolfe, has placed, in effect, a gag order on city council members. They must remain silent during the Cityscape presentation. They can listen, and they can even arch their brows, roll their eyes and uncross their arms, but literally saying anything is prohibited. It might, after all, be taken as legitimate interest and later exploited by the Rays–ostensibly always on the lookout for encouraging, lease-breaking words. The gag rule is the price for not suing Cityscape for deigning to come up with an alternative to the dead end Trop (2027) lease.
The resolution, however, prohibits Cityscape from speaking directly with the Rays outside the council meeting.
Only in St. Pete.
