This nation’s highest civilian honor is the Medal of Freedom. It is bestowed by the president and honors those very special high achievers and difference makers who have uniquely impacted society.
It also gives new meaning to eclectic. This year’s 13 honorees ranged from iconic astronaut John Glenn and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to recently-retired Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summit and musician Bob Dylan.
One program note: Dylan should have pocketed those sunglasses. “The times”–as well as venues–“they are a-changin’.”
