* Here’s hoping the unexpected NCAA experience of this year’s USF’s men’s basketball team yields long-term success this time. Recall that the Bulls regressed after the last such success–in 1992. The key will be recruiting. This year only one Bulls’ starter, freshman point guard Anthony Collins from Houston, came directly from high school. The rest are transfers.
It’s a maxim in NCAA sports: transfers are short-term help. You don’t build a program with transfers. And there are reasons, occasionally cautionary, why players transfer in the first place.
