Interesting to see how the party of the marketplace has been handling its negotiations with hoteliers who will be hosting visitors at next August’s GOP convention here in Tampa. Room rates previously agreed to are being revisited by the GOP Committee on Arrangements. Seems that contracts signed by those Michael Steele cronies aren’t as GOP-friendly as they could have been.
So what? We’re not some price-gouging market. Ask the National Football League. The NFL has put four Super Bowls in Tampa. They respect contracts and never asked for room-rate mulligans.
So much for Adam Smith and the “invisible hand.” This heavy-handed, demand-economy approach isn’t the self-regulation dynamic GOPsters say they revere.
