“Big, Cheap and Good”

First, the good news.

A law school that prides itself on its non-elitist niche, recently broke ground in Riverview. Eventually, it hopes to accommodate 700 students.

It’s the Lansing, Mich.-based Thomas M. Cooley Law School, the biggest in the country with more than 4,000 students. This will be Cooley’s first campus outside Michigan. It hopes to be open for business in May.

Moreover, Cooley, whose motto is “big, cheap and good,” also prides itself on its appeal to minorities and will target Bay Area blacks and Hispanics. It’s only regional competition is Stetson University College of Law, which has campuses in Gulfport and downtown Tampa.

Now, the bad news.

Do we really need any more lawyers?
