Dysfunctional Family Man

Last week Bucs’ cornerback Aqib Talib was arrested in Texas and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It’s another extension of his thuggish ways since he was drafted out of the University of Kansas three years ago.

Ironically, the standard remonstration with high-profile athletes who find trouble with the law too often, is to demand they stay away from the “wrong crowd.” In the case of Talib, however, that’s especially problematic.

Consider this most recent incident. Police reports say Talib tried to pistol-whip his sister’s boyfriend. Then his mother arrived and fired her pistol at the boyfriend, a registered sex offender. According to reports, Talib then used his mother’s pistol to fire again at the fleeing boyfriend.

In Talib’s case you couldn’t even argue that he should just stay home with his mom and sister.
