Consider this comment from late last summer. “We do not need that seat to be a seat where you’re learning, to be a seat where it’s for personal gain, to be a seat where the residents and the citizens of the state of Florida will be negatively impacted because of the lack of vision.”
That was former state Representative–and now Lt. Gov.–Jennifer Carroll explaining why she wouldn’t want a Gov. Rick Scott in Tallahassee. Now–one political epiphany later–she is, among other identities, a political icon for being the first black lieutenant governor in Florida’s history. From Mary McLeod Bethune to Zora Neale Hurston to Jennifer Carroll. Seamless.
The Trinidad native is articulate, media savvy, opportunistic and calculated–even for a politician. She is a member of both the NAACP and the NRA, a fairly unholy alliance. And what was her business when she wasn’t representing the Jacksonville area in Tallahassee? She owned her own public relations firm. Had Scott lost, she still would have won: exposure to die for.
But now she can be of service to Scott. Perhaps she can give his speeches.
