Doesn’t it seem that when our high schools are prominently noted in the media it’s typically for an athletic achievement, as an example of some school board policy gone awry or in the context of a tragedy?
How welcome — and gratifying — to be able to proudly note that once again Hillsborough County leads the state in the number of public high school students who have been named National Merit semifinalists. Hillsborough had 65; runner-up was Broward with 43. And no Hillsborough school had more than King High with 15.
Well done, Lions.
